Superconducting Tunnel Junction Sensors (STJs) are single photon counters with:

  • Far Infra Red to X Ray single photon sensitivity
  • Intrinsic energy resolving capabilities
  • Temporal resolving power well below 1 micro second
  • Count rates of more than 10,000 counts/sec
  • Very high quantum efficiency
  • Spatial resolving power when arranged in an array
